YES, ANIME REALLY WAS INVOLVED.
A cat named Shikamaruhelped break the ice.
Long before Blue and Sajida were building an anime platform together, anime was already finding its way into their friendship.
One of those early moments happened when Sajida heard Blue say her cat's name: Shikamaru.
She immediately recognized the Naruto reference.
That little moment turned into one of the things they bonded over - two people realizing they shared a love for anime, years before they would eventually become the co-founders of an anime company.
So yes, technically, a cat named after Shikamaru Nara has a tiny place in the FANIME origin story.
